ACT I: The crash.

After hundreds of years spent in cryogenic hibernation, the members of the fleet of imperial colonization of humatran were brutaly awoken. The life systems were reactivated in each starship and vessel, and all other crew started has to be awaked, the external warning systems were activated and indicated an imminent danger. Whereas they crossed first system of the edge, of the closest galaxy (which they were to colonize), its central star was in its final phase of life, and much weaker than what they first thought. At once, the colonists launched their emergency repatriation plan. But the first waves of the explosion of the monstrous supernova were already to feel...

A ray of a sharp red shined forth, enveloping the spaceships. Panic seized each ship, and the colonists frantically brought the ships back online, in order to be the first to set out again. The small vessels, lighter and faster, were already turning and had begun to accelerate, while largest flagship had begun his turn. When the first shockwave reached the fleet, the lighter vessels were at once swept away like simple sheets with the wind, while the majority of largest ships began disintegrating, slowly. Luckiest of these had begun accelerating with the intent to flee the area, when the second and final shockwave reached the fleet...

The fleet was almost destroyed by this second deadly shockwave, the vessels which survived were only a handful, and the state of each was pitiful. Only one had fully functional engines, and immediately undertook operations to rescue the crew of the other heavily damaged ships. But the return to their galaxy was impossible, all auto-navigation systems destroyed, like all the communication systems. Their only hope, was to find a planet to settle.

They spent whole months in space in the search of a planet to to settle, when finally they approached the first planet whose characteristics were not entirely hostile. In any event, they did not have the choice, because the amount of food was insufficient to continue, and the life on board the man-of-war was uncomfortable and becoming insupportable. When the vessel entering the atmosphere began its landing operation, the undergone damages were much more serious than they had envisaged. The control sytems burnt out in the descent through the atmosphere, one after another, and the crash of the vessel seemed nearly ordained... The crew ran to the rescue pods. The vessel was specified to carry many, thus small pods were released towards the surface of planet softly, while the ship continued its infernal descent.

ACT II: Birth of a giant.

The first landing pods disgorged their crewmembers, and the hundreds of survivors gathered to organize a search for their vessel. When they arrived at the site of the crash, there remained only burning sheets on the ground. Nothing remained!!! No more space transports, neither communication systems, nor tools. They would have to rebuild, to rediscover, to relearn... But life took off, again, quickly...

Hundreds of years later, the descendants of the people who had colonized the planet had rebuilt all the technology that which the original colonists had saved on the few holodisks that were salvaged from the wreck of their ship. They relearned to travel trough space and soon left to conquer the galaxy. They met other civilizations, of which some had common ancestors, "travelers of stars" as they were called by primitive tribes who were descendants of colonists aboard other vessels, whom had not been able to join them in their quest for a new home.

Meetings with hostile powers multiplied, and wars were commonplace. The pacts of peace, the treaties of alliance with extraterrestrial civilizations, which were integrated into their culture, all contributed to reinforce their strength, their capacity, their knowledge, and their technology. Their power and their influence on the galaxy only grew. When the moment had come, they began to ponder their lost Legacy, the civilization of their origin, of which they had been separated for such a long time. Not receiving reports from the probes that they had sent, they built a large fleet of ships, with which to find their ancestors. This new fleet returned to the galaxy from which they originated, and began to search through space, for many years...but what they found while searching this galaxy was very different from what the old men on the holodisks reported....
The planets were devastated by wars whose devastation could only have been of galactic size. The surface of each planet that they visited was completely destroyed. No remaining resources, nor trace of life. All that existed were remnants of violent wars, and fragments of lost civilizations. No sign of their mother civilization.

The first meeting between the two warrior camps was far from peaceful, because each one saw in the other a potential danger, a trick of the enemy, and thus began to treat them as enemies. These quarrelsome forces bore the name of the CORE and the ARM...

ACT I : Le crash.
